Drawn Observations

Drawn observation: Inspired by the black and white landscape photography of legendary photographers by the likes of Robert Adams, Xander’s other drawing passion is to document the natural world through the medium of pencil and pen.

Xander’s landscape observations are drawn at a scale of 210x148mm (A5) using a mixture of graphite, carbon and ink. As with his portrait work this combination of materials results in contrast rich images, with a full value range from absolute white through to deep dark blacks.

Through multiple ongoing ‘series’ of work Xander’s ‘drawn observations’ are available to purchase as limited edition prints, with the original drawing’s being placed on display in various locations around the country, along with his miniature portrait works.
